Trades are diverse and often well paid jobs that are acquired through apprenticeship. Trades apprenticeship is an alternative to University with a credential issued at the end of the in class training (15%) and work based training (85%).
There are many different occupations that are considered trades, explore them to find out the possibilities. (see BC and Red Seal trades)
As a secondary student there are two ways to pursue trades while earning high school credit:
- Secondary School Apprenticeship (SSA) – Start with an employer, get paid, and do your work based training.
- Start the trade by doing a foundation course that combines school training with hands on applications. (ACE IT – Accelerated Credit Enrolment in Industry Training)
