Apprenticeship

Trades and industry occupations are vital to the economy, and make excellent career choices.  There are two ways to start your apprenticeship while in high school.  Secondary School Apprenticeship (SSA) is on the job training, where you will be paid and can earn up to 16 high school credits.  Accelerated Credit Enrolment in Industry Training (ACE IT) is a technical based foundation training program.  These courses are offered in conjunction with Okanagan College and Industry Training Authority (ITA).

Career Planning

Click to find useful resources for students exploring possible career paths, whether it is via University or directly entering the work force.  Students can use the Educational Planner which gives detailed information about post-secondary schooling in BC, or look into 200 occupations as they relate to the BC job market.

Work Experience

Transition from secondary school into work is the goal with work experience.  Students can have the opportunity to learn and practice generic employability skills that are required in the work place.  Plus learn some skills relating to specific careers they are interested in.  Work Experience courses are each 100 – 120 hours long and worth 4 credits.
