At Alexis Park Elementary we are passionate about learning and staying curious about learning. We know that when children do well academically, they tend to do well behaviourally, emotionally and socially. Staying fit and eating healthy is important because we also know that the increased blood flow that physical activity generates gives the body and brain optimal oxygen levels needed for learning. Being active also helps prevent emotional health issues such as depression. Staff work towards a school culture which promotes continuous academic improvement, strong physical and emotional health, encourages engagement in the school community, and an acceptance of differences.
An educational researcher, Lauren Resnick said '…that effort actually creates ability, that people can become smart by working hard at the right kinds of learning tasks….' Research also says that if parents value education their children will be more successful at school.
Please talk with your children about always trying their best in everything they do.
