Bonjour lovely Beairsto families,
First of all, I want to extend a huge MERCI to all of our families for your patience, understanding and flexibility on this new journey together. I knew that our amazing community would rally together in these challenging times, but still find myself feeling impressed and very grateful to be able to serve each of your families. I wanted to give our community a general outline of what can be expected next week. Each teacher will be communicating some learning opportunities for their students. Our focus is to go slow, and to allow families to find a routine that works for them. We do not want to add any more stress to your home, but also want to continue to provide great learning opportunities. Please watch your email for communication with plans from your child's teacher.
As we adapt to our new learning environment, some items will be consistent for all of our learners. First, we want to establish a routine for the students. We want to determine a "just right" amount of time on task for each student. Any structure that we can begin to establish will be of benefit. Consider setting up a consistent, quiet space for your child to work. Also, start to think of times that will work best for your child to dive into their learning. These two steps might seem small, but they will help lay the foundation for success.
The second piece to remember is that open communication is needed. Please email your child's teacher if something is confusing or frustrating or going well. Teachers will establish ways to connect with your child to work through anything they can. All staff in our district have a work email address, which is their first initial and last name @sd22.bc.ca So, for example, mine is email@example.com ( there are a few exceptions like Mme Anderson and Mr Mitchell firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com ) Please reach out whenever there are concerns and we will help to get your child on track. Teachers are available during school hours, so emails in the evening might not be responded to until the following morning, but they will be responded to.
Above all, please take care of yourselves. While our amazing teachers will be providing learning opportunities, we want to make sure that you are safe and healthy. The staff members of École Beairsto are here to help and support as best we can. Stay in touch, and know that we are all together in this journey. Our teacher librarian, Mme Labrie, created a movie from our staff to you that explains that we miss the students but that we will look forward to seeing you and them again. Please take the time to enjoy it and share with your families.
