School District 22 aims to always have our schools open on the days we experience high amounts of snowfall.
We have a great maintenance crew, who are at the schools in the early hours of every school day. They are busy clearing the parking lots, sidewalks and checking inside the schools to ensure there are no power or water issues.
During the winter months, we encourage parents and students to ensure they have proper winter clothing, including warm jackets, snow pants, toques and mitts, and even a change of clothing.
Also, the safety of our students is of the utmost importance when it comes to bus transportation. On days when there is a large snowfall, we encourage families to visit our Facebook and Twitter pages and listen or read the local media sites for updates on delayed or canceled routes and runs.
When there are high amounts of snow accumulation, we recommend families travel to school at their own discretion, taking safety and snowfall in their area into account.
