Have a Wonderful Summer

Year End Note to Families – June 26, 2020

Well we have made it through to the end of another school year, and what a year it has been.

Thank-you to all of the families who have been supporting their children's learning opportunities this spring.   We know that there have been many additional challenges as we have navigated through a partial return to school and online learning.

Our hope is that things in our province and the world will be more like what we are normally used to when we return to school in September.  However, that will all be dependent upon how we live our lives and adhere to safe behaviours to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus over the summer.  Please continue to practice safe physical distancing, keep your circle small, wash your hands, and stay in if you are sick.  We are lucky to live in a place which is perfect for summer activities.  Enjoy your time with your families and we look forward to seeing everyone back at school in the fall.

We have some staff leaving our school this year.  Mr. Aujla, Mrs. Tassie, Mr. Nekrash. Mrs. Brar, Mrs. Sood, Mrs. Sengotta, and Mrs. Redden are all moving to different positions in the district.  We wish them all well in their new schools.  In addition, Mrs. Peterson and Mrs. Freebairn are joining us at the intermediate level.  We are all looking forward to welcoming them to the OKL family.

The first day of school in September is Tuesday, Sept. 8 and it is a partial day with dismissal at 11:30.  All students will return to their 2019-2020 classes for the first week back.  Mr. Aujla's class will be in Mrs. Fischer's old room with Mrs. Freebairn and Mrs. Tassie's class will be in the portable with Mrs. Peterson. Please check the district and school websites for information and updates about bussing and return to school procedures, particularly after the middle of August.

Please remember that all schools will be closed during this summer from July 4 to August 30.

Here are a few recipes to make with your kids over the summer.  Thanks again to the Fabulous Mrs. Wirch for providing all of these recipes for our families.  Enjoy cooking.  J  (right click to open the links).
