Proposed boundary change for consideration

School District staff are considering proposing that the School District Board adjust the Ellison Elementary / Okanagan Landing Elementary catchment boundary to move some of Ellison Elementary’s catchment to Okanagan Landing Elementary.

As Ellison Elementary and Okanagan Landing Elementary feed into Clarence Fulton Secondary School, no secondary school catchment areas change.

The following map illustrates the proposed boundary change.

How the change could be implemented

Staff are considering recommending that the Board implement the change as follows:

  • Ellison Elementary students living in the boundary change area can choose to continue to attend Ellison Elementary. Their siblings can also choose to attend Ellison Elementary when they reach Kindergarten age.
  • The proposed boundary change would be effective for student registrations after January 15, 2026 (essentially, next school year).

Staff will bring recommendations, including a summary of community feedback received, to the Board for consideration at the November 19th, 2025, Board meeting.

Why the change is being considered

Ellison Elementary currently has 400 students in a school built for 411 students. Potential development in the area under review may further increase the enrolment at Ellison Elementary.

Okanagan Landing Elementary has 271 students in a school built for 322 students. Staff project the enrolment to remain steady.

The proposed boundary change implementation minimizes the impact on families while easing space pressures at Ellison Elementary School over time.

The consultation process

Families are invited to attend a consultation session at Okanagan Landing Elementary School at 5pm on Wednesday, November 12th. The School District’s Secretary Treasurer, Adrian Johnson, will provide an overview of the proposed change. School Principals and District staff will also attend and be available to answer questions.

A survey for feedback is available here: Public Input on Proposed School Boundary Change - Ellison & OKL – Fill out form.

All input received will be shared with the Board.

If you are unable to attend and have questions or concerns, please contact your School Principal.
