Strengthening Literacy Through UFLI

Mission Hill teachers continue to ensure student success through literacy development. Grades 1–3 are regularly integrating UFLI lessons, a foundational program for building strong reading skills. Grades 4 and 5 are also using UFLI strategies to bridge gaps and ensure every student becomes a confident reader. During lessons, students are engaged in oral, written, and visual communication activities. UFLI addresses BC’s Core Competencies by embedding communication, thinking, and personal/social skills into daily literacy instruction.
