Student-Led Conferences and Outdoor Science Learning

Cherryville

Cherryville Elementary had a successful turnout for student conferences in October. Students shared their personal learning goals with their families, and teachers supported each child by discussing their individual paths forward. The grade 2/3/4 class engaged in outdoor learning, exploring chemical reactions with baking soda, vinegar, and balloons, which strengthened their understanding of scientific concepts. The grade 5/6 class created carnival games using everyday materials for the Cherryville family Halloween party at the hall. The event was well attended, and students demonstrated leadership by sharing their games and teaching younger children, connecting to the Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies (ADST) curriculum in the process.
