Alexis Park Elementary - Leading by Example
Leadership at Alexis Park Elementary is woven into the everyday experiences of students and staff. Rather than being defined by titles, leadership is reflected in the many opportunities learners embrace to contribute positively to their school community. Each morning, students confidently lead school announcements, setting a welcoming tone for the day and modelling clear communication and responsibility for their peers.
Student leadership is also visible during school assemblies, where learners support presenters, help guide transitions, and demonstrate what it means to be a school‑wide role model. Throughout the day, leadership continues to flourish in hallways and classrooms as older students take on the role of lunch monitor (helpers) for primary classes. Through patience, kindness, and attentiveness, they help ensure younger students feel
On the playground, leadership takes on an active and collaborative form. Students volunteer to organize soccer and basketball games, often stepping into referee roles. In doing so, they promote fairness and problem-solving while building confidence.
This strong culture of leadership is nurtured and sustained by dedicated teachers who lead their classrooms with purpose and passion. By modelling curiosity, responsibility, and lifelong learning, staff inspire students to take ownership of their growth and step forward as leaders themselves.
