Where Learning Comes to Life
Throughout the year, students at BX Elementary School have been actively engaged in a wide range of academic and extracurricular opportunities that support their growth and confidence.
Within the intermediate grade blocks, students recently participated in several hands-on learning rotations. One highlight involved cooking borscht, where students developed food preparation skills while exploring cultural connections. Another rotation focused on microeconomies, giving students opportunities to practice budgeting, decision-making, and foundational economic concepts through small-scale classroom activities. Students also continued their second-language learning, building age-appropriate vocabulary and conversational skills. Fine arts has also remained an integral part of the program, with learning experiences in visual arts, music, and performance that encouraged creativity and self-expression.
Student clubs continued to play an important role in promoting relationships and supporting personal interests. Art Club offers students guided opportunities to develop skills in drawing, painting, and other artistic mediums. LEGO Club promotes collaboration, problem-solving, and teamwork through design and building challenges. The Dungeons & Dragons Club provides a structured setting for storytelling, role-playing, and strategic thinking. These clubs are well attended and contribute positively to school culture.
Students are also preparing for the upcoming Battle of the Books competition, an event that encourages reading, discussion, teamwork, and comprehension. Participation has been strong, and students are demonstrating enthusiasm as they prepare for this year’s contest.
