From Reading Coach to Robotics - Learning Thrives at Beairsto

At Beairsto, students are thriving with rich learning experiences that support Oral French Literacy, and student voice and choice. There are a variety of after‑school activities being offered, including Dungeons & Dragons Club, Basketball, Choir, Battle of the Books, beading club, and Rock Band.

Grade7 French Immersion students are enjoying new opportunities to explore, connect, and prepare for their transition to W.L. Seaton Secondary. Students have visited Seaton on a few occasions, enjoying some theater performances and they have experienced a bit of what life is like as a High School student.

Beairsto students are using Microsoft Teams’ Reading Coach to help improve literacy skills digitally. The opportunity to record and review reading and Oral language in French is provided through this AI tool, allowing mispronunciations and errors to be heard more clearly. Common mistakes have been more easily self‑corrected, and authentic literacy learning has been supported.

A Robotics Club has been running in the library at lunchtime for students in Grades3 and up, offering hands‑on early learning experiences. With tools like Ozobots, Mouse Code & Go, Coopers, Osmo, and various engineering kits, students have been building early coding, problem‑solving, and creative‑thinking skills.
