Learning Department
SD22’s Residency Program provides classroom-embedded professional learning that supports student growth and educator learning. Each residency brings together classroom teacher(s) and partner staff from the Learning, Indigenous, and Technology Departments to co-plan, model, observe, and reflect over an extended period of time. The sustained nature of the model helps educators strengthen culturally responsive, inclusive, and equitable learning environments for all students.
Residencies may be initiated by an individual classroom or as a whole-school focus connected to literacy or numeracy goals in a School Learning Plan. In 2025–2026 applications, many educators identified responsive writing instruction and authentic writing experiences as priorities. The residency structure also complements the district’s broader professional learning ecosystem, including Teacher Mentorship, Communities of Practice, and school-based learning sessions.
