Notice of Election
It's time to vote for your School Trustees! Democratically and locally elected school trustees are the voice of local communities in public education, setting direction for schools that shape the lives of all students and families.
October 17th, 2026 is general voting day. You also have two advance voting opportunities, on October 7th and October 14th.
Candidates and voting places vary with where you live. School Elections are aligned with Municipal Elections, so you can vote for your choice of Mayor and Council or Area Director at the same time as voting for School Trustee.
You can only vote at the voting location(s) assigned to your region.
Trustee Electoral Area 1 (City of Vernon, RDNO areas B and C)
Four Trustees are elected within Area 1. The following six candidates are running for these four positions.

Trustee Electoral Area 2 (District of Coldstream)
One Trustee is elected from the District of Coldstream, and one candidate (Kelli Sullivan) was nominated.
Accordingly, Kelli Sullivan is acclaimed as Trustee from Trustee Electoral Area 2. There will be no election. Congratulations, Kelli Sullivan!
Trustee Electoral Area 3 (Village of Lumby, RDNO Areas D and E)
Two Trustees are elected within Area 3. The following four candidates are running for these two positions.

General Voting will occur on October 17, 2026 alongside the elections for Mayor of Village of Lumby and Director of RDNO Area D.

Voter Eligibility
There is no need to pre-register to vote as the registration of all electors for this election will take place at the time of voting. You will be required to make a declaration that you meet the following requirements:
- 18 years of age or older on voting day
- Canadian citizen
- Resident of BC for at least 6 months immediately preceding the day of registration
- Resident of OR registered owner of real property in the jurisdiction for at least 30 days immediately preceding the day of registration, and
- Not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in and election or otherwise disqualified by law.
Resident property electors must produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature). Picture identification is not necessary. The identification must prove both residency (your address) and identity.
The following are examples of acceptable identification:
- BC Driver’s License
- BC Identification Card
- Property Tax assessment
- Residential rental agreement
- ICBC Vehicle Insurance Documents
- Social Insurance Number Card
- BC Services Card (BC CareCard)
- Credit Card
- Utility Bill
- Citizenship Certificate
- Passport
Non-resident property electors must produce two pieces of identification (at least one with a signature) to prove identity, proof that they are entitled to register in relation to the property, and if there is more than one owner of the property, written consent from the majority of the property owners.
